The state’s tribal development department has teamed up with Overseas Development & Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC) to help empower tribal nursing professionals. The initiative will see tribal nursing professionals sent to European countries for work.
The department has earmarked around Rs 4.10 lakh each for 20 selected participants. The program aims to provide free language training to the nursing professionals.
Kerala has a long history of nurses migrating abroad for better prospects. More than half a million nurses from Kerala are currently employed abroad, with 21.5% of those in Saudi Arabia being from Kerala.
